Star Wars

Saturday June 9, 2007

I loved Star Wars when it came out--thirty years ago? Wow. Time sure does fly.

The Fort Worth Museum of Science and History in the Fort Worth Cultural District is opening its exhibit "Star Wars: Where Science Meets Imagination" on June 9 (Saturday) and it will continue until September. On display will be costumes, props, and video interviews with filmmakers, scientists, and engineers. As always, the Fort Worth Museum of Science and History will bring immediacy to the exhibit by comparing and contrasting science fiction with science fact.

Another thirtieth anniversary celebration will also be held in Grand Prairie on Saturday starting at 5pm. A costume contest, collectibles, food, drink, and a screening of the 1977 theatrical version of Star Wars are only some of the things offered there. Admission is free with a canned good. Check it out at the Logos Youth Center, 121 N. Center Street. Take I-30 to Grand Prairie and exit Belt Line Road. Go south (left if you came from Dallas, right if you came from Fort Worth) and turn right on Main Street to Center Street.
