Live Music and Dancing at Counter Culture and Urban Taco

Thursday February 14, 2008

Mockingbird StationMockingbird Station is hopping these days with lots of opportunities to listen to live music, catch a movie, and eat dinner whether casual or fancy.

Check out Music Fridays at Counter Culture from 8 p.m. to 10 p.m. Local musicians of various genres perform at this local boutique. Counter Culture sells both new and vintage fashions (and by "vintage", I don't just mean "someone else's old clothes" -- these are cute clothes). Drop off your old clothes in their donation bin and get 15% off new, vintage, or refurbished clothes. The clothes go to people in need through the Austin Street Center.

On Saturdays at 11 p.m., Urban Taco sheds its daytime eatery persona and becomes a Latin lounge with salsa dancing and a live DJ. Urban Taco serves Mexico City-inspired fare and margaritas -- lots of margaritas.

To get to Mockingbird Station, take DART's Red Line or Blue Line. If you prefer driving, take I-75 in Dallas and exit Mockingbird Lane. Go east on Mockingbird Lane and take a left at Mockingbird Station Road, into the Mockingbird Station Park and Ride lots.

I love Counter Culture. They also give college students a discount of 15% off.
