Free Stuff To Do in Dallas

Here's a smattering of free stuff to do in Dallas and the surrounding area for May 22-May 25.
  • Thursday, May 22, Johnny Cooper and Adam Hood play at the Glass Cactus near the Gaylord Texan resort in Grapevine. Arrive before 8 p.m. and get in free.
  • Also on Thursday, May 22, David "Fathead" Newman plays on the Ross Avenue Plaza at the Dallas Museum of Art's Jazz Under the Stars series. Concert starts at 8 p.m.
  • Williams-Sonoma has free demonstrations for culinary skills at 11 a.m. Thursday, learn how to make the perfect margarita; Friday, easy grilling; Saturday, Memorial Day recipes.
  • Friday, May 23, Whole Foods Market in Arlington is showing off their home spa products. From 1 p.m. until 5 p.m., learn how to make your bathroom a spa and get a free massage from their in-store massage therapist.
  • Also on Friday, May 23, Brut Dallas is having a free champagne tasting from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.
  • And one more free thing on Friday: listen to Jonny the Saint and the Velvet Hand and their R&B sound at the House of Blues starting at 8 p.m.
  • Rahr and Sons Brewery in Fort Worth has a free tour and tasting every Saturday from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m.
  • Children's author Deborah Blumenthal and teen fiction novelist Jennifer Ziegler will sign copies of their books at the Barnes and Noble at the Parks at Arlington Mall starting at 1 p.m. on Saturday.
  • Listen to The Usual Suspects, a band that plays an eclectic mix of cover tunes, on Saturday 6 p.m.-9 p.m. at Central Market in Fort Worth.
  • Sunday evening, starting at 9 p.m., head down to Sherlock's Pub at either 5100 Belt Line Road in Addison or 254 Lincoln Square Center in Arlington and try your hand at karaoke.
  • The Trammell and Margaret Crow Collection of Asian Art is always free. Current exhibitions include Himalayan art, Chinese snuff bottles, contemporary photography in China, and a Indian and Southeast Asian art from private collections.
