Free Stuff To Do in Dallas

Here's a smattering of free stuff to do in Dallas and the surrounding area for Jul 10-16:
Thu, Jul 10- The construction of the Fort Worth Museum of Science and History is reaching its high point this week. The dedication is at 10 a.m. and includes live music and free Curly's peach-flavored frozen custard. Guided construction perimeter tours are at 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. The Fort Worth Museum of Science and History is located in the Fort Worth Cultural District.
- 2:30 p.m.-4 p.m., bring those mysterious fossils to the National Cowgirl Museum to be identified by science curator Dr. Aaron Pan. The Cowgirl Museum is located in the Fort Worth Cultural District.
- 10 a.m.-noon, you're invited to the birthday party of a three-year-old dinosaur. Radio Disney will be there with music, prizes, games, and cake. Noon and 2 p.m., take a guided tour of the construction of the new museum. 2:30 p.m.-4 p.m., be dazzled by science experiments and demonstrations. All this happens at the Fort Worth Museum of Science and History in the Fort Worth Cultural District.
- 11 a.m. and again at 1 p.m., listen to singer Eddie Coker at the National Cowgirl Museum and Hall of Fame in the Fort Worth Cultural District. 10 a.m. and noon, take a guided tour of the construction of the new museum. 2:30 p.m.-4 p.m., bring those mysterious fossils to the National Cowgirl Museum to be identified by science curator Dr. Aaron Pan.
- Saturday and Sunday, you and your family can audition to be contestants on "Family Feud" at Quik Trip Park in Grand Prairie. A team must be composed of five family members related by blood, marriage, or legal adoption. Call (323) 762-8467 to schedule an appointment.
- 11 a.m., learn how to make the perfect pizza at Williams-Sonoma.
- 2 p.m.-6 p.m., take the kids to NorthPark Center for clowns, jugglers, balloon artists, and much more.
- noon-5:30 p.m., the VFW is putting on a benefit car show at 3221 Howell Street in Arlington. There will be food, drinks, some kid stuff, and a raffle ($5 tickets). You can also enter your custom car or truck in the contest for a donation.
- 1 p.m.-2 p.m., join the Dallas Opera's Suzanne Calvin at Barnes & Noble (Prestonwood Center, 5301 Beltline Road in Dallas) as she discusses the book selected for "Die Fledermaus", A Nervous Splendor: Vienna 1888-1889 by Frederic Morton. "Die Fledermaus" will be performed by the Dallas Opera in December this year.
- 7:30 p.m., watch "Dracula" (1931, Bela Lugosi) at the Inwood Theatre (5458 West Lovers Lane at Inwood in Dallas).
- 10 a.m.-11 a.m., children will learn about the Dallas Police Department Equestrian Unit at the Highland Hills Library (3621 Simpson Stuart Road in Dallas).
- 7:30 p.m., watch "Carmen: A Hip Hopera" (2001, Beyonce) at AT&T Plaza in Victory Park. Bring a blanket and a picnic, or get some food at one of Victory Park's many restaurants.
Ongoing free stuff includes the free movies around the Metroplex and many of the summer concerts in public parks. Several museums in the Dallas area have free admission -- some all the time and some only on certain days.
