Star Party

Wednesday August 6, 2008

Look at nebulae, star clusters, planets, moons, and interesting happenings in the night sky this Saturday, August 9 with the members of the Fort Worth Astronomical Society. Society members bring their telescopes to the parking lot north of the Fort Worth Museum of Science and History in the Fort Worth Cultural District and allow the public to view the night sky. Admission is free. The star party starts after dusk when the sky is dark enough to see the stars.

The Fort Worth Nature Center will have a star search on Saturday, August 23. Staff set up a telescope and point it at objects of interest in the sky. It lasts from 7:30 p.m. until 9 p.m. and costs $5 for members of the Nature Center and $10 for non-members. Call (817) 237-1111 to register.

If you're looking for other people to enjoy star-gazing with, try one of these local astronomy clubs.
