Free Stuff To Do in Dallas

Here's a smattering of free stuff to do in Dallas and the surrounding area for Aug 14-20:
Thu, Aug 14- 10 a.m.-3 p.m., the Crow Collection of Asian Art (2010 Flora Street in Dallas, near the Dallas Museum of Art) is having Family Festival Days to celebrate the Olympics. Enjoy music, dance, crafts, and silk worms. Family Festival Days Aug 12-16 and Aug 19-23, 10 a.m.-3 p.m., with different activities each day.
- 4 p.m.-8 p.m. Irving Mall (at the intersection of Belt Line Road and Highway 183 in Irving) hosts this health fair with health screenings and referrals for follow-ups if necessary.
- 6 p.m.-10 p.m., Exposition Park (on Exposition Avenue near Fair Park in Dallas) has an event every second Thursday where galleries stay open late.
- 5 p.m.-7 p.m., taste a variety of champagnes and sparkling wines at Brut Dallas.
- 6 p.m.-9 p.m., Cerulean Gallery (6609A Hillcrest in Dallas) is hosting an opening reception for Vivid Imagination, an exhibition featuring artists Robin Hazard-Bishop, Leslie Friedman, Z Jacobson, Xan Sinclair Koonce, and Peter Robbins.
- 7 p.m., meet Christine Son, author of "Off the Menu", at the Lincoln Park Square Barnes & Noble (7700 West Northwest Highway in Dallas, across from NorthPark Center).
- 10 a.m.-noon, during the Family Festival Days, watch "The Park" at the Crow Collection of Asian Art (2010 Flora Street in Dallas, near the Dallas Museum of Art) as part of a partnership between the collection and the Asian Film Festival of Dallas. 2 p.m.-4 p.m., watch "Boomtown Beijing".
- 2 p.m., kids can try their hand at being a Kabuki performer inside Bookmarks at NorthPark Center. Using washable face paint, Japanese fans, and dramatic movement, Kent Williams introduces kids to this traditional Japanese art form.
- 6 p.m., Central Track (800 Exposition Avenue in Dallas) is hosting an opening reception for two new exhibitions.
- 8 p.m.-10 p.m., enjoy Symphonic Saturdays at Addison's Esplanade Park.
- 2 p.m.-3 p.m., every Sunday, the Cowtown Opry performs on the steps of the Livestock Exchange Building (131 East Exchange Avenue in Fort Worth) at the historic Fort Worth Stockyards.
- 5 p.m.-dark, Lone Oak Winery is having its first annual Harvest Fiesta with live music, crafts, and winery tours. And, of course, tastings.
- 7:30 p.m., watch "Jurassic Park" on the big screens at AT&T Plaza in Victory Park.
- 10:30 a.m., enjoy the tall tales of Crazy Mazy Dowdy (played by Anne Marie Newman) at NorthPark Center.
