Weekend Festivals

Four festivals are coming up this weekend -- the biggest of which is the State Fair. Temperatures are predicted to reach a high of 90 on Saturday and Sunday, with nary a cloud in the sky, so it's a good weekend to be out and about.

Entertainment at the State Fair this weekend includes Lady Antebellum, voted "Top New Group" by the Academy of Country Music, on Friday night at 8:30 p.m., The Zac Brown Band on Saturday, and Demi Lovato ("Camp Rock") on Sunday at 5:30 p.m. Lines for parking can be long, backing up the highway for miles, so I'd suggest taking DART's light rail (Red Line or Blue Line) and catching the State Fair shuttle at the Pearl Street station in downtown Dallas. The State Fair shuttle runs every Saturday and Sunday during the State Fair, Sep 26-Oct 19.

The All About Uptown Festival was cancelled earlier this month due to Hurricane Ike. Saturday, uptown brings out all the food, music, art, and historic tours that were planned before. The city of Irving is also having food, music, art, and fun in their Music and Magic on Main celebration on Saturday. The Greek Food Festival runs Friday through Sunday and celebrates Greek culture through food, art, music, and shopping.
