Here's a smattering of free stuff to do in Dallas, Fort Worth, and the surrounding area for Oct 9-Oct 15:

Thu, Oct 9
  • 6:30 p.m.-8:30 p.m., watch the Dallas Black Dance Performers at One Arts Plaza (1722 Routh Street) in downtown Dallas.
  • 8 p.m.-10 p.m., enjoy the view from the twenty-second floor of One Arts Plaza (1722 Routh Street) in downtown Dallas, along with a free glass of wine at their Thursday Night Lights.
Fri, Oct 10
  • 5 p.m.-9 p.m., celebrate the Festival Michoacano at the Latino Cultural Center (2600 Live Oak) in Dallas with music and dance.
  • 7 p.m.-9 p.m., African Drummers perform at One Arts Plaza (1722 Routh Street) in downtown Dallas.
Sat, Oct 11
  • 11 a.m.-4 p.m., enjoy Target Second Saturdays at the Latino Cultural Center (2600 Live Oak) in Dallas. The programs include: theater for children by Patricia Urbina (Spanish), songs, rhymes and movement (Spanish), films from Latino or Latin American Directors, a dance workshop, and a craft workshop. (Workshops are for ages 12 and up.)
  • 11:30 a.m., meet local children's author Kristine Kahanek at the Barnes & Noble at Creekwalk Village (801 West 15th Street) in Plano.
  • 3 p.m., meet fiction author Daniel Reveles (Enchiladas, Rice, and Beans) at the Barnes & Noble at the Shops at Highland Village (4100 Deer Creek in Highland Village).
  • 7 p.m., The Factory performs hits from the 60s, 70s, and 80s at Kay Granger Park (4100 Flory Street) in North Richland Hills. Bring lawn chairs, blankets, and picnic baskets.
Sun, Oct 12
  • 2 p.m., meet artist and author George Rodrique (Blue Dog Speaks) at the Barnes & Noble at Lincoln Park (7700 West Northwest Highway) in Dallas.
  • 2 p.m.-8 p.m., celebrate the Festival con Sabor a Mexico at the Latino Cultural Center (2600 Live Oak) in Dallas with music, dance, and crafts.
  • 3:15 p.m., the Dallas Cowboys play the Arizona Cardinals on the big screens at the Granada Theater (3524 Greenville Avenue) in Dallas. Doors open at 2:45 p.m. Arrive twenty minutes before kickoff and the first beer is free. Parking is free on Sundays.

  • 7:30 p.m., Dr. Punch Shaw (“Meet the Music”) performs at the Barnes & Noble at University Park Village (1612 S. University Drive) in Fort Worth.
Wed, Oct 15
  • 7 p.m., meet author Carmindy (Get Positively Beautiful: The Ultimate Guide to Looking and Feeling Gorgeous) at the Barnes & Noble at Lincoln Park (7700 West Northwest Highway) in Dallas.
  • 8 p.m.-10 p.m., listen to St. Paul's Jazz Band at One Arts Plaza (1722 Routh Street) in downtown Dallas.
