Here's a smattering of free stuff to do in Dallas and the surrounding area for Dec 11-17:

Thu, Dec 11
  • 7 p.m.-9 p.m., enjoy the music of The Variations Show Choir of Woodrow Wilson High School at Mockingbird Station, with free hot chocolate courtesy of PURE Dental. Take advantage of the happy hour specials at Margarita Ranch, Rockfish, and Urban Taco.
  • 8 p.m., meet author and radio and television host Glenn Beck at Borders Bookstore (10720 Preston Road in Dallas).
Fri, Dec 12
  • 7 p.m., watch “The Princess Bride” outside the Angelika Film Center at Mockingbird Station. Patio heaters and chairs will be available or bring your own chairs and blankets. Concessions and hot drinks will be available for purchase with cash only.
Sat, Dec 13
  • noon, meet local author Dr. Annette Colby at the Barnes & Noble at Creekwalk Village (801 West 15th Street in Plano).
  • 1 p.m., meet local author William Manchee at the Barnes & Noble at University Park Village (1612 S. University Drive in Fort Worth).
  • 2 p.m., music group Anuna performs and signs copies of their CDs at Borders Bookstore (10720 Preston Road in Dallas).
  • 2 p.m., enjoy Brett Roberts' “Holiday Magic Around the World” at NorthPark Center.
  • 5 p.m., watch the ice-skating, back-flipping, pyrotechnic Santa at Dallas Galleria.
  • 6 p.m.-8 p.m., attend an artist reception at the Ice House Cultural Center (1004 W. Page Street in Dallas) for the La Virgen de Guadalupe Art Exhibition, which runs Dec 5-Jan 2.
Sun, Dec 14
  • 7:15 p.m., watch the Dallas Cowboys play the Pittsburgh Steelers on the huge screens at the Granada Theater (3524 Greenville Ave).
Mon, Dec 15
  • noon-1 p.m., listen to the Turtle Creek Chorale sing holiday carols at the Adolphus Hotel (1321 Commerce Street) in downtown Dallas.
  • 7 p.m., watch “Home Alone” outside the Angelika Film Center at Mockingbird Station. Patio heaters and chairs will be available or bring your own chairs and blankets. Concessions and hot drinks will be available for purchase with cash only.
Tue, Dec 16
  • noon-1 p.m., listen to the Schola Cantorum of Texas sing holiday carols at the Adolphus Hotel (1321 Commerce Street) in downtown Dallas.
  • 6 p.m., Foodie Night at Mockingbird Station is at Coldstone Creamery at 6 p.m. for peppermint ice cream and Starbucks at 8 p.m. for gingerbread latte.
  • 7 p.m.-8 p.m., listen to holiday favorites sung by the Union Performance Choir at the J. Erik Jonsson branch of the Dallas Public Library. (1515 Young Street in downtown Dallas, across from City Hall).
Wed, Dec 17
  • 10:30 a.m., preschool kids can watch “Rudolph and the Misfit Toys” at NorthPark Center.
  • noon-1 p.m., listen to the Texas Boys Choir and the Singing Girls of Texas sing holiday carols at the Adolphus Hotel (1321 Commerce Street) in downtown Dallas.
