Free Stuff To Do in Dallas

Here's a smattering of free stuff to do in Dallas and the surrounding area for Jan 8-14:
Thu, Jan 8- 10:30 a.m.-11:45 a.m., the Amon Carter Museum in the Fort Worth Cultural District is offering a free tour for adults with Alzheimer's and their caregivers. The next tour date will be Feb 12. Call 817.989.5032 or e-mail access@cartermuseum.org for more information.
- 2 p.m.-4 p.m., watch High Noon (1952, Gary Cooper) at the Dallas Public Library (1515 Young Street in downtown Dallas, across from City Hall).
- 2 p.m., kids can watch Bongo Rod and his Coconutty Buddies at Bookmarks in NorthPark Center.
- 3 p.m., quilter Terry Mosher talks about quilting techniques and inspirations at the Ice House Cultural Center (1004 W. Page Street in Oak Cliff, Dallas). While you're there, take in the gallery exhibition, “Men of the Cloth”, featuring the works of four male quilters.
- 7 p.m.-9 p.m., attend an artists' reception at the Bath House Cultural Center (521 E. Lawther in Dallas).
- 7:30 p.m.-9:30 p.m., enjoy the sounds of guitarist Francisco Hernandez at One Arts Plaza (1722 Routh Street in Dallas).
- 1 p.m.-4 p.m., this month's Target Family Fun Day at the Amon Carter Museum in the Fort Worth Cultural District has a tour of the “wild” side of the museum followed by animal crafts activities.
- 6 p.m.-7:15 p.m., experience tranquility with Zen meditation at the Crow Collection of Asian Art (2200 Ross Avenue in Dallas). No reservations required. Wear comfortable clothing.
- 7 p.m.-8 p.m., join Sue Goldstein, author of The Underground Shopper, at the Dallas Public Library (1515 Young Street in downtown Dallas, across from City Hall) to learn how to live life at half-price.
- 10:30 a.m., pre-school kids will have fun learning about art at Bookmarks at NorthPark Center.
