Here's a smattering of free stuff to do in Dallas and the surrounding area for Mar 5-11:

Thu, Mar 5
  • 6:30 p.m.-7:30 p.m., the Tea Merchants will perform Celtic Rock at Watauga Public Library (7109 Whitley Road in Watauga).
  • 7 p.m.-8 p.m., enjoy R&B from BluPrint at Austin Street Plaza in Roanoke.
  • 7 p.m., watch “Vertigo” (1958, James Stewart, Kim Novak) in 164 Moudy Building South (2805 S. University Drive on the TCU campus in Fort Worth).
  • 7 p.m.-9 p.m., the Dallas Black Dance performers will be at One Arts Plaza (1722 Routh Street in downtown Dallas).
  • 7:30 p.m., author Katherine Center (Everyone Is Beautiful, The Bright Side of Disaster) will be on-hand for a book-signing at Legacy Books (7300 Dallas Parkway in Plano).
Fri, Mar 6
  • noon, Ebby Halliday and author Michael Poss (The First Lady of Real Estate Ebby Halliday) will be on-hand for a book-signing at Barnes & Noble at University Park Village (1612 S. University Drive in Fort Worth).
  • 6 p.m-7 p.m., get in free to the North Texas Irish Festival at Fair Park. After 7 p.m., adult tickets will cost $10 and children fourteen and under will still get in free.
  • 6:30 p.m., author Misa Ramirez (Living the Vida Lola) will on-hand for a book-signing at Barnes & Noble at Southlake Town Square (1430 Plaza Place in Southlake).
  • 7 p.m.-10 p.m., listen to the Casey James Ban at One Arts Plaza (1722 Routh Street in downtown Dallas).
  • 9:30 p.m.-11:30 p.m., watch the Martin Scorcese documentary "Shine A Light" about the Rolling Stones at AT&T Plaza by the American Airlines Center in Dallas.
Sat, Mar 7
  • 2 p.m., science fiction author William Manchee (Tarizon: The Liberator) will be on-hand or a book-signing at Barnes & Noble at Firewheel Mall (190 Cedar Sage Drive in Garland).
  • 10 a.m.-2 p.m., the Crow Collection of Asian Art (2010 Flora Street in downtown Dallas) will celebrate Japan's Doll Festival. Enjoy puppet shows, storytelling, and Japanese drummers.
  • 2 p.m., Dorayne Breedlove entertains children with her stories of blossoms around the world at NorthPark Center.
  • 2 p.m., author Joanne Fluke (Cream Puff Murder) will be on-hand for a book-signing at Legacy Books (7300 Dallas Parkway in Plano). Cream Puff Murder is a murder mystery which includes twelve original dessert recipes, some of which will be served at the signing.
  • 7 p.m.-10 p.m., Caravan, a jazz quartet, will perform at One Arts Plaza (1722 Routh Street).
Sun, Mar 8
  • 1 p.m., take a free guided tour of the Trammell Crow European Sculpture Garden (2010 Flora Street in downtown Dallas).
Mon, Mar 9
  • 7 p.m.-8 p.m., Threadneedle Street will perform Celtic music at Euless Public Library (901 N Ector Drive, near the intersection of Highway 121/183 and Ector in Euless).
Tue, Mar 10
  • 5 p.m.-7 p.m., Victor Andrada will perform at One Arts Plaza (1722 Routh Street in downtown Dallas).
  • 7 p.m.-8 p.m., learn about Sam Houston and Texas Independence at the Central Branch of the Dallas Public Library (1717 Young Street) in downtown Dallas, across from City Hall.
Wed, Mar 11
  • 10:30 a.m., preschool-aged children will learn about King Tut from storyteller Ann Marie Newman at NorthPark Center.
  • 7 p.m.-9 p.m., Francisco Hernandez will perform at One Arts Plaza (1722 Routh Street in downtown Dallas).
