Free Stuff To Do in Dallas

Here's a smattering of free stuff to do in Dallas and the surrounding area for May 14-20:
Thu, May 14- 7 p.m.-8 p.m., listen to the Texas Gypsies at Austin Street Plaza (corner of Oak and Austin in Roanoke). Bring lawn chairs, blankets, and a picnic.
- 7 p.m.-8 p.m., listen to Big Smoo, a Texas roadhouse blues band, at Old Bedford School (2400 School Lane in Bedford).
- 7 p.m.-9 p.m., Paul Harrington and Will Logg perform at One Arts Plaza (1722 Routh Street in downtown Dallas).
- 7:30 p.m., meet author Willard Spiegelman (Seven Pleasures: Essays on Ordinary Happiness) at Legacy Bookstore (7300 Dallas Parkway in Plano).
- 11 a.m.-7 p.m., help a master builder put together an eight-foot LEGO replica of R2D2 at Stonebriar Centre. This continues through Sunday.
- 7 p.m.-10 p.m., the Casey James Band will perform at One Arts Plaza (1722 Routh Street in downtown Dallas).
- 9:30 a.m.-10:30 a.m., learn techniques for summer grilling at Williams-Sonoma at Stonebriar Centre.
- 2 p.m., elementary school-aged children will enjoy family entertainer David Chicken at NorthPark Center.
- 7 p.m.-9 p.m., Francisco Hernandez performs at One Arts Plaza (1722 Routh Street in downtown Dallas).
- 7:30 p.m.-8:30 p.m., listen to the Killdares at Southlake Town Square (Main Street at Southlake Blvd in Southlake).
- 1 p.m.-5 p.m., take your dog to the Cotton Bowl at Fair Park for Dog Bowl. Dogs and their owners can run and play fetch on the field. Owner/pet look-alike contests, entertainment, and lots more.
- 2 p.m.-8 p.m., enjoy LakeWoodstock Festival 2009. Several bands on three stages, shopping, and kids' entertainment will be at Lakewood Village (7305 Gaston Avenue in Dallas).
- 5 p.m.-7 p.m., Those Guys will perform at One Arts Plaza (1722 Routh Street in downtown Dallas).
- 7 p.m.-8 p.m., come see a bit of the Renaissance Faire at the Central Branch of the Dallas Public Library (1515 Young Street in downtown Dallas, across from City Hall).
- 10:30 a.m., preschool kids will enjoy “Magnet Mania” by the Museum of Nature and Science at NorthPark Center. 5 p.m.-7 p.m., Dallas Black Dance will perform at One Arts Plaza (1722 Routh Street in downtown Dallas).
