Here's a smattering of free stuff to do in Dallas and the surrounding area for Jun 4-10:
Thu, Jun 4- 7 p.m.-8 p.m., listen to the Kildares at Austin Street Plaza (corner of Oak and Austin in Roanoke). Bring lawn chairs, blankets, and a picnic.
- 7:30 p.m.-8:30 p.m., listen to salsa band Havana NRG at Capp Smith Park Amphitheatre in Watauga.
- dusk, watch "My Big Fat Greek Wedding" in the Chisholm Trail parking lot (Main Street and 3rd) in downtown Fort Worth. Take the TRE to the Fort Worth ITC station and walk up the hill to Main Street and turn right.
- 10 a.m.-10:45 a.m., kids will enjoy story time followed by splash time at Denton Water Works Park (2400 Long Road in Denton). Admission is free, but participants must leave by 10:45 a.m. or pay admission.
- 9 p.m., watch “Back to the Future” at Addison Circle Park (4970 Addison Circle Drive in Addison). Park adjacent to Addison Circle Park off of Festival Way and Addison Circle Drive.
- noon-6 p.m., have fun with the kids at Bass Prop Shops near Grapevine Mills Mall. A shooting range, laser shooting gallery, casting pond, s'mores cookout, crafts, and workshops keep the kids happy and you busy (but the s'mores make it worth it, right?)
- 6 p.m.-8 p.m., listen to the Texas Gypsies at Rosebud Park in Richland Hills.
- 7:30 p.m.-8:30 p.m., enjoy the jazz and soul sounds of Fingerprints in the Rustin Pavilion at Southlake Town Square (Main Street and Southlake Boulevard in Southlake).
- 11 a.m.-4 p.m., play bocce at NorthPark Center. Other kid activities will also be free. Refreshments will be available for purchase.
- noon-6 p.m., have fun with the kids at Bass Prop Shops near Grapevine Mills Mall. A shooting range, laser shooting gallery, casting pond, s'mores cookout, crafts, and workshops keep the kids happy and you busy.
- 7:30 p.m., meet author Flora Jessop (Church of Lies) at Legacy Bookstore (7300 Dallas Parkway in Plano).
- 7 p.m.-8 p.m., Dallas author Mark Rice will be on-hand to share stories of the bankers, oil men, cotton brokers, merchants and insurance titans who built Dallas at the Central Branch of the Dallas Public Library (1515 Young Street in downtown Dallas).
- 10:30 a.m.-11:30 a.m., kids will enjoy storytime at the Amon Carter Museum in the Fort Worth Cultural District. Olivia by Ian Falconer and Not a Stick by Antoinette Portis will be read in the museum's galleries.
- 4 p.m., fans of Harry Potter can enjoy a Wizard Rock Concert at Fort Worth's East Regional Library (6301 Bridge Street).
- 7:30 p.m., watch "Kung Fu Panda" on Victory Park's big screens.
