Gobble, Gobble Up the Savings on Black Friday

Black Friday is almost here. The day is both anticipated and dreaded. The day is greatly anticipated by parents wanting to get the best deal on gifts for the kids. It's anticipated by businesses hoping to push into the profit range (getting out of the "red" and into the "black"). It's dreaded by the people working in retail.

I took a seasonal job last November at the Gymboree children's store at Allen Premium Outlets and it was a blast. I trained for two days prior to the dreaded day and then I worked for eight hours on Black Friday. My feet were killing me by the end of my shift. Trust me, I was more interested in the employee discount than my salary; I spent a lot more in that store than I made there. I only worked three days during the season but got to enjoy my discount until my employment ended in January. I have a lot of respect for people who make a career out of working retail. Believe me, what doesn't kill you on Black Friday, makes you stronger.

My husband thought I was silly to put myself through that ordeal. He thinks shopping the day after Thanksgiving is crazy. He said it's the worst shopping day of the year. Whether you love or hate it, it's news. DFW loves to shop.

Here are some of DFW's  Black Friday specials.

May you all find good parking spots this weekend when you gobble, gobble up the savings and stimulate our economy.
