Have you thought about what kind of funeral you want? The Golden Gate Funeral Home in Dallas just put the "fun" back in funeral -- and based on the latest reality-style TV show, they can give you just about any kind of send off that you desire. Any kind!
Best Funeral Ever debuted last night on TLC. I'm for real here. I saw it when my husband was channel surfing. I nearly died laughing -- not at the expense of the grieving family but at the lengths that people will go to for the big send off.
Willie McCoy was the musician known for singing the Chili's Baby Back Ribs jingle (I want my baby back, baby back, baby back, baby back ribs Chili's baby back ribs....barbecue sauce!) What better send off than put him in a casket shaped like a smoker and have a fountain of barbecue sauce. The live pigs just made for typical reality TV. I can't imagine that the grieving family would have asked for that -- but then again, this is Dallas.
Let It Snow, Let It Snow, Let It Snow
Another funeral offered up a Christmas theme -- complete with a fully-decorated Christmas tree, elves, reindeer and more.
I will say the show was produced in a fairly tasteful manner (except maybe for the pigs). It's an unusual topic for a reality show but why not? At least it didn't involve a lot of cursing, screaming and drink tossing like some of the others that tape in DFW -- see Big Rich Texas.
For more Best Funeral Ever, tune in to TLC on Sunday evenings. You might pick up a few ideas for your own service.
