No one shot J.R. Ewing today in Dallas, Texas.
Well, not while I was there at least. A remake of the CBS series that made the world love/hate the dastardly J.R. Ewing is currently shooting on location in Dallas.
Early Friday afternoon, half a dozen pretty Dallas Cowboys cheerleaders arrived at the top-secret location wearing white long-sleeved athletic-type jackets with a Lone Star on the front and "Cowboys" on the back. They practiced their routines with a choreographer on a large dance floor with blue/white pom pons waving -- while waiting for production to begin.
I can't give away the location site because it is a public place and production is still underway. Production started in the early afternoon before the crowds hit. One of the spaces inside the facility was blocked off for behind-closed doors filming. It was reported that the show's promo will feature the stars Larry Hagman, Linda Evans, Jesse Metcalfe and more.
Inside sources said the cheerleaders would be part of the show's promo. Producers were also scouting locations for filming future shots inside the facility as well.
Oooh, how exciting. It's always a good thing when those production dollars are pumped into the local economy. Besides, I get tired of seeing every TV show or movie based in New York, Miami or Los Angeles.
So keep your eyes open while you're out 'n about in Dallas over the next few months. You might see scheming, cat fights, drunken brawls, deals being made over scotch -- and you might even see the show being filmed.
OK, I'll admit it. It was kind of exciting when the bar played the theme song to "Dallas." I was a fan of the show. I just may have to see if I can dig up my "Who Shot J.R.?" t-shirt that I wore back in 19xx - when I was in high school and the original show was popular. (I'm not revealing my age).
