The State Fair Opens in DFW and Lots More Fun!


The temperatures are beginning to cool down and there are some great things to do in September. Check out an outdoor concerts, attend the State Fair of Texas or a DFW festival, or watch the Dallas Cowboys try to make it to the playoffs. Meteorologists promise us that it won't be triple-digit temps all September long too.

2. Sept 27-28: 8th Annual BBQ Cook-Off

Don't miss the 8th Annual BBQ Cook off, the largest amateur BBQ event in North Texas. Great food, great fun & for a Great Cause. Live entertainment, silent & live auctions, concessions, celebrity judges, kids activities.

September 27th: 5 p.m. Kick-Off Party & Concert. Tickets Available on Website, full Casino tent; $25. Dinner is a BBQ buffet from 6-8 pm.

September 28th: Gates are Open from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Free admission. $10 Unlimited Samples

There are several 9/11 tributes and memorials going on throughout DFW.

4. Sept 7: Plano Bridal Show

What: The 25th Annual Plano Bridal Show is the premier bridal event in North Texas. Over 100 wedding businesses, ranging from the first steps of planning your wedding to the honeymoon. The Plano Bridal Show will provide a one-stop shopping experience to plan your complete wedding -- including a fabulous Fashion Show at 2 p.m.

6. Sept 11-14: Grapefest

9. Sept 26: Free Lecture at the Amon Carter Museum

Thursday, September 26, from 6–7 p.m. check out Conserving The Caves, a FREE lecture at the Amon Carter Museum of American Art. Learn from Claire Barry, director of conservation, as she discusses her work on Robert Seldon Duncanson’s painting The Caves (1869), a recent Amon Carter acquisition.
