Summer Concert Series

Dallas and Fort Worth have a wide selection of concerts starting in May and continuing weekly through September. Everything from rock to big band to children's songs is represented in these summer concert series.

Cool Thursdays at the Dallas Arboretum

Apr 30-Jul 30. Every Thursday evening from 7:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m., the Dallas Arboretum hosts a range of musical sounds. The concerts kick off on Apr 30 with A Hard Night's Day, a Beatles Tribute band. Tickets are $16 for adults, $7 for children 3-12, and free for children under 3.

Jazz Under the Stars

May 21-Jun 25. Thursdays, 8 p.m. on the Ross Avenue Plaza at the Dallas Museum of Art. Bring a picnic and blanket or purchase food and beverages there while you listen to the jazz stylings of top-notch artists. Admission is free.

Dallas Symphony Community Concerts

May 25, 27, and Jun 2, 3, 10 at 8 p.m. and Jun 13 and 19 at 7:30 p.m. The Dallas Symphony Orchestra has community concerts each year. Admission is free.

Richardson Community Band

May 24-Aug 16. Bring lawn chairs, a blanket, and a picnic. The Richardson Community Band kicks off its summer series with a Memorial Day tribute on May 24. Concerts are free and at 7 p.m. (except for July 4, which begins at 8 p.m.) Concerts are held on the lawn of the Richardson Civic Center (900 Civic Center Drive) in Richardson. Dates are May 24, Jun 7, Jun 21, Jul 4, Jul 19, Aug 2, and Aug 16.

Music in the Park

Jun 1-29, 7:15 p.m. The Mesquite Symphonic Band will play free concerts every Monday evening in June at Westlake Park, located at 599 Gross Road in Mesquite.

Plano Community Band Summer Concert Series

Jun 1-Jul 27, 7 p.m. The Plano Community Band is holding a series of free concerts in Haggard Park in downtown Plano. Take a picnic and blanket and enjoy the music on June 1, June 15, July 3, July 13, and July 27. To get there, take DART's Red Line to the downtown Plano station. Haggard Park is the park you see from the platform. Stepping off the other side of the platform will take you to downtown Plano, where you will find restaurants, shopping, and art galleries.

Sounds of Lewisville

Jun 2-Jul 21, 7 p.m. Tuesday evenings this summer, head out to Old Town Lewisville, near Lewisville City Hall, for outdoor concerts performed by a variety of performers. Bring a blanket or lawn chair and a picnic. Alcohol is prohibited. Admission is free.

Concert Under the Stars

Jun 4-25, 7 p.m. Thursday evenings at Memorial Plaza at Weatherford College, dance the evening away. Bring a blanket or lawn chair. Admission is free

Dallas Symphony Casual Classics

Jun 6, 12, 20, and 27 at 7:30 p.m. The Dallas Symphony plays its summer Casual Classics at the Meyerson Symphony Center in the Arts District in downtown Dallas. The selections are ones that just about everyone will recognize from their frequent use in popular culture. Individual tickets cost $13-49, depending on the seat location. Tickets for the series (four concerts) cost $40-172.

Frisco Grooves

Jun 5-26. Bring a lawn chair on Fridays at 7:30 p.m. to the Warren Sports Complex (Preston Road and Eldorado Road) in Frisco, Texas to listen to bands of various stripes. Admission is free. Concessions will be available on site.
