Thanksgiving is an excellent excuse to gather around the table with family and friends and just eat eat eat. The Dallas Morning News has a list of places to eat on Thanksgiving Day. See below for a few more and some other things to do after the eating.

Turkey Trot

Nov 27, 9 a.m. Kick off a day of sitting around the table and eating with an eight-mile run at White Rock Lake. A three-mile run starts at 9:15 a.m. If you want to get your kids involved, sign them up for the Tot Trot. They run with you, but have their own Tot Trot shirt, race number, and timing chip. Well-behaved and leashed dogs are welcome to run and will receive a Turkey Trot bandanna.

Thanksgiving Day Ballroom Brunch

Nov 27, 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Enjoy a delicious brunch at the Gaylord Texan Resort. Price includes brunch, sparkling wine, musical entertainment, self-parking, service charges, and tax. Brunch costs $65 for adults, $25 for children 6-12, and free for children 5 and under.

Bistro Louise Buffet

Nov 27, 10:30 a.m.-2:30 p.m. Bistro Louise in Fort Worth offers a traditional Thanksgiving buffet. Cost is $45 for adults, $16.95 for kids 4-11, and kids under four eat free.

Humperdink's

Nov 27, 11 a.m. Humperdink's restaurants will be open on Thanksgiving Day. For $17.99, you can get a turkey dinner with all the trimmings: gravy, stuffing, mashed potatoes, yams, green beans almondine, cranberry sauce, and one slice of pumpkin or pecan pie. Kids under twelve get the same selection for $9.99 and kids under five eat free. Humperdink's has several restaurants around the area: Addison, Arlington, Richardson, and two in Dallas at Greenville Avenue and Caruth Haven and at Northwest Highway.

The French Room at the Adolphus Hotel

Nov 27. The French Room will be serving traditional fare alongside more novel adaptations on Thanksgiving Day. Cost for adults is $67 and children under 10 is $35. Make reservations by calling (214) 742-8200, emailing dining@adolphus.com or directly online at OpenTable.

Celebration Station

Nov 27, 1 p.m.-9 p.m. Eat your turkey dinner at lunch and then go to Celebration Station for golf and games. Cost is $6 for unlimited go-kart rides or $12 for unlimited go-kart rides, miniature golf, bumper boats, and kiddie rides. Celebration Station also has video games and food (in case you get hungry again). Celebration Station is located at 4040 Towne Crossing Blvd, near the intersection of I-30 and 635 in Mesquite.

City of Arlington Golf Courses

6:30 a.m.-2 p.m. The city of Arlington keeps its municipal golf courses open on Thanksgiving Day and the weekend following.

A Whole Brunch of Jazz

Nov 30, 3 p.m. Enjoy buffet and jazz at the South Dallas Cultural Center (3400 S. Fitzhugh Avenue in Dallas). This annual event raises money for scholarships that benefit BTWHSPVA and Lincoln High graduating students. The program will feature the jazz students at Town View Magnet Center under the direction of Dean Hill. Tickets cost $15 and include food and entertainment.
