A Romantic Valentine's Day in Dallas

Dallas is a romantic city with lots to do in an ordinary month, but in February, there are even more creative ways to woo your sweetheart. Try some of these ideas.

Valentine Wine Trail

Feb 14 and 15, 11 a.m.-5 p.m. Tour eight wineries with your Valentine. One ticket gets three one-ounce samples at each winery, a bottle of premium wine, a large wine glass, food and entertainment, and a map for self-guided fun in Grapevine. Advance tickets are $45 each if purchased online before Feb 13. At the door, tickets cost $50 each. Captain Limousines is offering a package deal including three-hours of chauffered limo service, chilled wine bins and glasses, and a bottle of champagne at the end of the trip starting at $250 per couple.

Dinner in the Diner

The Museum of the American Railway in Fair Park hosts an old-fashioned Valentine's Day dinner each year. Designed to replicate the experience of dining during the heyday of train travel, this romantic evening features a champagne reception, entertainment, and a dinner menu from the Santa Fe Railway. Dinner is served on the fully restored 1937 MKT Dining Car. Call (214)428-0101 for reservations. This event always sells out.

LightCatcher Winery

Feb 13 and 14. Seatings every half hour 5:30 p.m.-8:30 p.m. LightCatcher Winery is hosting a dinner with four courses paired with four wines and live music. Dinners start at $110 per person. Call (817)237-2626 for reservations. LightCatcher Winery is located at 6925 Confederate Park Road in Fort Worth. To get there, take I-20 or I-30 to Fort Worth and go north on Loop 820. Stay on 820 for about twenty miles until you reach the Jacksboro Highway/199 exit. Take a right on 199 and continue for 3.5 miles. Turn left on Confederate Park Road. About two miles down on the left, you will see LightCatcher Winery.

Keith and Margo's Murder Mystery Theater

Feb 14, 7 p.m.-11:30 p.m. Keith and Margo's St. Valentine's Celebration promises to be fun. This light-hearted mystery comedy theater features professional actors as "suspects" and a "detective" interacting with the audience as you help solve the mystery. For $94 per person, an evening includes a glass of wine for each person, an hors d'oeuvres reception and a three-course dinner, prizes, and dancing. For an additional $130 per couple, all the above plus a room at the Omni Dallas Hotel (where the mystery is held) and breakfast in the morning are included. A cash bar is extra. Make reservations online.

Dallas World Aquarium

The Dallas World Aquarium has some rare and unusual species of animals on display in recreations of their natural habitats. Tour the multi-story aquarium, then sit down to excellent service and food in one of their restaurants. The restaurants are open only until 4 p.m., so make this an early date.
