School Districts Serving the City of Dallas
A quarter of a million school-age children live in the city limits of Dallas. Most of those children -- a little over 160,000 -- attend schools within the Dallas Independent School District. The other 100,000 children attend schools in the many smaller districts that border Dallas ISD.

Garland Independent School District
Garland Independent School District is the twelfth largest school district in Texas with more than 58,000 students. It serves the cities of Garland, Rowlett, Sachse, Wylie, and Dallas.

Duncanville Independent School District

Irving ISD
The Irving Independent School District is located in the center of the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex and has more than 33,000 students. Irving ISD serves most of the city of Irving and part of the city of Grand Prairie with four high schools, seven middle schools, 20 elementary schools, three early childhood schools and five learning centers.

Everman Independent School District
Everman Independent School District is located to the southeast of Fort Worth. More than 4,200 students attend Everman schools.

Mesquite Independent School District
Mesquite Independent School District is located on the east side of Dallas and has more than 36,000 students. It serves the cities of Mesquite, Garland, Balch Springs and parts of Dallas with 32 elementary schools, eight middle schools, five high schools and one alternative school.

Lancaster Independent School District
Lancaster Independent School District has more than 6,000 students, all of whom are required to wear school uniforms. The student/teacher ratio is 17:1. Lancaster ISD serves the cities of Lancaster and Hutchins with seven elementary schools, one middle school, one high school, and one learning center.

Arlington Independent School District
Arlington Independent School District is the eighth largest school district in Texas and the 66th in the nation with more than 63,000 students.
