The web should remain active until the temperatures cool and the spiders die off. Over the Labor Day weekend, a park ranger told us, the bird population seemed to have discovered the spiders, so possibly the spider population will be reduced soon. The same park ranger told us that there have been no birds or mammals found trapped in the web, although it looks big enough and tough enough to hold one. The predominant spiders are not very aggressive and seem to prefer prey much smaller than themselves.
