The calf scramble gets sixteen students in the arena to chase eight calves. Those who catch a calf and pull it into the center square receive a $500 certificate to purchase a beef or dairy heifer, raise it, and show it at next year's Fort Worth Stock Show and Rodeo for the chance at college scholarships.
The eight students who don't catch a calf each receive a pair of Justin boots. Not a bad deal at all.
