Cinco de Mayo Festivals in the Metroplex

Cinco de Mayo celebrates the defeat of the French at the Battle of Puebla in Mexico. Dancers, artists, and performers gather at various festivals throughout the Metroplex. Many restaurants also offer special deals on food and drinks during this time.

Rose Marine Theater in Fort Worth

May 3, 7:30 p.m. Mariachis and folklorico performances by the Ballet Folklorico de Fort Worth. Music and food will be available. Admission is free. The Cinco de Mayo Celebration will be held at the Rose Marine Theater at 1440 North Main Street in Fort Worth.

Oak Cliff Parade and Street Festival

May 3. Nearly 20,000 are expected to attend the parade and street festival in Oak Cliff this year. The parade route starts in the 300 block of East Jefferson Boulevard in Dallas and continues to 1000 W. Page. Several nearby businesses will be holding their own Cinco de Mayo celebrations. Admission is free.

Cinco de Mayo Block Party in the West End

May 3, noon-9 p.m. Dallas's historic West End district is throwing a block party to celebrate Cinco de Mayo. Seven bands and eight dance troupes will perform on three stages. West End restaurants will have kiosks offering samples from their delicious menus. The block party is on Market Street from DART's West End station (Red Line and Blue Line) to Munger.

Denton's Quakertown Park

May 3, 10 a.m.-6 p.m. Parade at 10 a.m. starts at Locust and Oakland streets in the TWU parking lot, follows Locust and College Streets to make a left on Elm, goes to the Court House Square, up Locust to make a right on Parkway, a left on Oakland, a right on Withers, and another right on Bell to end at the Civic Center on McKinney. A competition for La Reina de Cinco de Mayo will be held and another between soccer teams will keep everyone entertained. Art, crafts for the kids, food, and entertainment will be there. Quakertown Park is located at 321 E. McKinney in Denton.

Cinco de Mayo in Irving

May 3. Folklorico and Hawaiian dancers, mariachis, food, and workshops will be held at the Senter Park Recreation Center at 902 Senter Road in Irving.

Old Town Lewisville

May 3, 10 a.m.-7 p.m. Enjoy art, music, entertainment featuring local dancers and singers, and a car show. Admission is free, but donations of $1 or a canned good are requested. The Cinco de Mayo Festival will be held on Main Street in Old Town Lewisville.

Cinco de Mayo at Texas Stadium

May 4, 11 a.m.-10 p.m. More than 100,000 people gather each year in the Texas Stadium parking lot to hear bands on several stages. Admission is free, but parking costs $10.

Cinco de Mayo at Urban Taco

May 5, 2 p.m.-10 p.m. Urban Taco is taking the food and drink outside and adding a mariachi band and a DJ to celebrate Cinco de Mayo and their first anniversary. Urban Taco is located at Mockingbird Station.

Viva el Norte

May 8-9, 7:30 p.m. Enjoy dance, music, and colorful costumes at the Majestic Theatre at 1925 Elm Street in Dallas. Tickets cost $8-$12.
