June Festivals in the Dallas Fort Worth Metroplex

June is the month of sunshine and barbecues. And festivals, too.

Texas Scottish Festival and Highland Games

Jun 5-7. The Texas Scottish Festival and Highland Games will be held at Maverick Stadium at UTA and this year they will be hosting the International Highland Games Federation World Championship. A huge heritage festival with competitive athletics, music (including The Killdares, Jiggernaut, and Clandestine), genealogy, Gaelic language seminar, and the largest pub tent in North America, the Texas Scottish Festival attracts more than 40,000 people each year. Ticket prices differ by the day and age of the festivalgoer.

Shakespeare in the Park

Jun 17-Jul 25. The cast of Shakespeare Dallas performs the Bard's plays at Samuell-Grand Amphitheatre on the eastern side of Samuell-Grand Park at Grand Avenue and I-30. Tickets are $10 for adults and $7 for seniors and students on Fri and Sat. Children under twelve attend for free. Donations of $10 (and up) are requested for the other days.

Dallas City Arts Festival

Jun 12-14. Fri 6 p.m.-10 p.m., Sat 11 a.m.-10 p.m., Sun 11 a.m.-6 p.m. Enjoy music, fine arts, things for the foodies among us, and free access to the museums in the Arts District in downtown Dallas. Take DART's Red or Blue light rail lines to the St. Paul Station. The festival is free and includes an area for the kids.

Summer Solstice Celebration at White Rock Lake

Jun 27, noon-10 p.m. Enjoy live music, vegetarian cafe, henna tattoos, shopping, a labyrinth walk, and much more at Teepee Hill at White Rock Lake. Bring a picnic and the whole family. Leashed dogs welcome.
