August heats up, and so do the festivals around here.
Aug 8-10. White Rock United Methodist Church is sponsoring an art fair with over forty artists showing their creations. A silent auction, live music (Aug 12 at 3pm), and kids section (only Sat 10am-3pm) round out the activities. Located at 1450 Oldgate Lane in Dallas, take I-30 to the Grand Avenue exit. Go north on Grand Avenue about three and half miles and turn right on Oldgate Lane. The church is about four blocks down.
Aug 14-21. The Asian Film Foundation of Dallas sponsors the Asian Film Festival to showcase films that are by, for, and about Asians.
Aug 15-23. Carnival, rodeo, horse show, and a parade compete for attention with the art, barbecue, and beauty contests, and the music at the North Texas Fairgrounds at 2217 N. Carroll Boulevard in Denton.
Aug 17, 10 a.m.-6 p.m. Music, comedy, and arts and crafts keep the adults entertained, while face painting, a puppet show, karaoke, and more arts and crafts keep the kids busy. Held at the Jewish Community Center at the Morton H. Meyerson Symphony Center at 2301 Flora Street in Dallas.
