Hoedown for the Dallas Farmers Market

Nov 6, 6 p.m.-9 p.m. The mission of this fundraiser for the Dallas Farmers Market is to promote local foods (from all around Texas). Farmers donate produce and local chefs prepare delicious recipes from it. Texas vintners will have their latest offerings on hand. Live entertainment and shopping round out the evening. The fourteenth Annual Hoedown is being held at the Food and Fiber Building in Fair Park. Tickets cost $55 each. Four or more tickets purchased together cost $50 each.

South Dallas Dance Festival

Nov 6-9. Thu, Fri, and Sat at 7 p.m. and 8 p.m.; Sun at 3 p.m. The eighth annual South Dallas Dance Festival showcases performers and provides an opportunity to meet and learn from some of these dancers. The festival is being held at the South Dallas Cultural Center (3400 South Fitzhugh in Dallas). Admission is $10 for most; seniors, students, and members of Star System and Dance Council, $5.

Dallas Video Festival

Nov 6-9, 2008. A film festival to celebrate video as a creative art form is held at the Angelika Film Center and Dallas Theater Center.

Fort Worth Greek Food Festival

Nov 7-9. Fri-Sat, 10 a.m.-10 p.m.; Sun, 11 a.m.-3 p.m. Lunch is served each day 11 a.m.-2:30 p.m. and dinner is served Fri and Sat 5 p.m.-9 p.m. Greek folk dances, shopping, and, of course, lots of food will be available. Father Michael Stearns will lead tours of the church. Admission is free. Lunch costs $10, dinner costs $15, and individual items can be purchased after 11 a.m. every day for $1-$6. The Fort Worth Greek Food Festival is being held at the St. Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church at 2020 NW 21st Street in Fort Worth. To get there from Dallas, take I-30 west and exit University Drive. Go north on University and turn left on Hwy 199/Jacksboro Highway/Henderson St. Take a right on NW 21st Street.

Chile Pepperama the Festival

Nov 9, 11 a.m.-6 p.m. The Chile Pepperama combines fiery food and hot music. Judge the Texas Chefs Association Chili Cookoff from 11 a.m. until 5 p.m. The Chile Pepperama will be held at the Old Town Shopping Center at Lovers Lane and Greenville Avenue in Dallas.

Lone Star International Film Festival

Nov 12-16, 2008. The Lone Star Film Society sponsors five days of films, panels, and parties at several venues in Fort Worth.

Out Takes Dallas Film Festival

Nov 13. This annual lesbian and gay film festival focusing on films that are about or of interest to the gay and lesbian communities is trying a new format starting in late 2008. Rather than a week or weekend of films, every second Thursday on the month will be gay movie night. Feature-length films, shorts, and documentaries are interspersed with social events. The first film of the festival will play at the Inwood Theatre on Nov 13. The rest of the festival plays at the Magnolia Theatre in the West Village.

Dallas Dance Festival

Nov 13-16. Dance competitions and workshops run all weekend at the Dallas Dance Festival. The festival is being held at the Sheraton Grand Hotel at the Dallas Fort Worth International Airport.

Mountain Man Weekend

Nov 15-16. Mountain Man Weekend brings early 1800s America to life with demonstrations of practical and decorative skills of the time and songs and stories. Beaujolais Wine Festival

Nov 21, 7 p.m.-9:30 p.m. Wine lovers can be the first to enjoy this year's Beaujolais vintage. Food from some of the best restaurants around town is included in the ticket price. A silent auction begins at 6pm for items such as airline tickets, luxury hotel weekends, champagne brunches, and cooking or foreign language classes. Cocktail or business dress is required. Festivalgoers must be 21 years or older. Tickets are $55 each. The Beaujolais Wine Festival is being held at the World Trade Center at 2050 Stemmons Freeway (I-35E) in Dallas.
