1. May 2-6: Dallas Wine and Food Festival
The 28th annual Dallas Wine and Food Festival celebrates fabulous food and wine. It's an educational event that doesn't remind you of a high school desk. Taste the world without ever leaving Dallas.

Where: Events are at different venues including the Angelika Film Center and Cafe in Plano, the Nasher Sculpture Center, the Dallas Farmers Market and more.
Must be 21 or older to attend. No strollers or children allowed.

MayFest is a four-day festival with live music, food and fun for all ages. MayFest is held in Trinity Park, along the banks of the Trinity River, in the Fort Worth Cultural District. In 2012, it runs May 3-6.4. May 5-6: Cottonwood Art Festival
What: The Cottonwood Art Festival is a juried art show that takess place twice a year. It's art, music, food and beverages, arts and crafts for the kids and more.
When: May 5-6, 2012. 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday; 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday.

5. May 12-13: Swiss Avenue Historic District Mother's Day Home Tour
Swiss Avenue Historic District Mother's Day Home Tour is May 12 and 13, 2012. The Swiss Avenue Historic District is one of the finest early 20th century neighborhoods in the Southwest. Listed in the National Register of Historic Places, approximately 200 carefully preserved and restored homes representing several architectural styles including Mediterranean, Spanish, Georgian, Prairie, Craftsman, Neoclassical, Italian Renaissance, Tudor and Colonial Revival are in the district.
6. May 12-20: 10th Annual Butterfly Festival
What: More than 1,500 butterflies are coming to Plano to vacation in an 800-foot mesh tent filled with green foliage, water fountains and butterfly feeders.

7. May 12: Asian Festival
What: The Asian Festival, the largest celebration of Asian culture in North Texas, includes martial arts, native art, food, dance, children's activities.

8. May 18-20: Main Street Days Grapevine
Taste the international wines, craft beers and pizza pies. Dine at the Pizza Piazza, dance to non-stop entertainment, seek out your favorite festival food and shop the day away. Main Street Days is a fun-filled festival perfect for the entire family. Wine tours: free shuttles will take you to Grapevine's wineries and tasting rooms.

9. May 20: Dragon Boat, Kite and Lantern Festival
The festival features colorful kite flying and exciting dragon boat races, cultural performances, a lantern festival, plus Asian food, arts and crafts, and educational activities. Free to the public.

10. May 20-22: Wildflower! Festival
Wildflower is an award-winning, multi-day eclectic arts and music festival featuring three main outdoor stages, a Singer/Songwriter stage, the Wild! Marketplace, the Taste of Texas Food Garden, the family friendly Kidz Korner and a whole lot more.
