November Festivals


November is a cool time for a festival. What better way to celebrate than with fabulous food and beverages.

1. Nov 2-4: Romanian Festival

What: It's the 7th annual Romanian Festival. Come taste the flavors of some of the favorite Romanian foods. Choose from "ciorba," "sarmale," "mititei," "carnati," "mamaliga," "cozonac" and more traditional specialties. Try your favorite or something new. Music.

When: November 2-4, 2012
Friday beginning at 5 p.m.
Saturday opens 10 a.m.

2. Nov 3: Festival at the Switchyard

It's Carrollton's third annual festival at the Switchyard featuring arts and crafts, live music (free concerts by Sister Hazel, Lighthouse and more), food, shopping and much more. Lots of fun activities are planned for the kids like indoor rock climbing, sports-related midway games (football toss, radar clocking baseball pitch) plus laser tag, hampster ball races, trackless train and more.

When: Saturday, November 3, 2012 from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m.

Where: The Festival takes place on the streets of Historic Downtown Carrollton on the east side of I-35E, between the George Bush Turnpike and LBJ Freeway at Belt Line Road.

Cost: Free (including concerts).

3. Nov 9-11: Fort Worth Greek Festival

What: The 45th annual Fort Worth Green Festival. Greek food, fun and dancing. A great event for the entire family - and you don't have to be Greek to attend.

When: November 9-11, 2012

Where: St. Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church, 2020 N.W. 21st Street, Fort Worth, Texas. 817-626-5073.

4. Nov 9-11: Lakewood Home Festival

What: The Home Festival began in 1976 when the Lakewood Early Childhood PTA staged a tour showcasing five distinctive and historic neighborhood homes as a fundraiser to purchase playground equipment for kindergarten children. In the past five years, LECPTA has raised more than $750,000 for Lakewood Elementary, J.L. Long Middle School, and Woodrow Wilson High School.

When: November 9-11, 2012

Candlelight Tour: This intimate event provides a first glimpse into the six spectacular homes plus one bonus home showcased during the festival on Friday, November 9, from 5 - 7:30 p.m.

Tickets: Tickets may be purchased at Lakewood Elementary school the days of the event, on the website, retail location, or at any house.

5. Nov 30: Beaujolais Beyond Wine Festival

At this year's event you will be able to savor French wines from Alsace, Beaujolais, Bordeaux, Burgundy, the Loire Valley, Provence, and the Rhône Valley, as well as American wines from California, Oregon, and Texas. In addition to wine, there will be a selection of craft beers. Sample Beaujolais and much more, sponsored by the French-American Chamber of Commerce. Ticket price includes commemerative glass, food and wine tasting, entertainment, silent auction and more. Meet Miss Texas 2012 DaNae Couch.

When: Friday, November 30, 2012 from 7 p.m. to 9:30 p.m.

Tickets: $60 in advance; $65 at the door. Raffle tickets are $5 for a trip to France.

6. Nov 23-25: Dickens of a Christmas

It's an old-fashioned holiday family festival with horse drawn carriages, strolling carolers, visits with Santa Claus, the Christmas tree lighting ceremony and activities for all ages. Seasonal music, food and children’s activities provided by local organizations will take center stage during the event. Nov 23-25, 2012 in historic downtown McKinney.
