Oval Rose Garden at the Fort Worth Botanic Gardens

Heather Carr

The oval rose garden at the Fort Worth Botanic Gardens is a great place to view roses that grow well in this area and get an idea of what will look good in your landscape. It's not always easy to tell from a catalog the precise combination of foliage, height, shape, and, of course, bloom color and size. It's impossible to know the scent of a particular flower until you put your nose right up to it. All roses in this garden can be sniffed while your feet are firmly planted on the paved path.

The garden consists of several planting beds arranged in three concentric ovals. The raised beds contain rich, fluffy soil and are covered with a thick layer of shredded bark mulch. Following are just a few of the roses in the oval rose garden.
