for About.com

The Cottonbelt Trail is part of the planned Dallas Fort Worth Veloweb which will connect suburbs to downtown and residential neighborhoods to the areas where the residents work. The Grapevine segment of the Cottonbelt Trail stretches for 2.78 miles from Pool Road/Brumley Avenue to William D. Tate Avenue/Ball Street with a planned expansion of 2.8 miles.

Access Points:

There are no access points along the Cottonwood Trail in Grapevine. However, both ends of the trail connect to other trails that have access points.

The southwestern end of the Cottonwood Trail links with the Pool Road Trail. Start from Parr Park in Grapevine – the trail leaves from the north side of the parking lot. You need to go north before you go west, so take the right fork, left fork, right fork, and then the left fork. Continue in a westerly direction until the trail ends at the Pool Road Trail on a bridge on Pool Road. Go to the right (north), cross Highway 26 and turn right onto the Cottonbelt Trail.

The northeastern end of the Cottonwood Trail links with the Downtown Grapevine Trail. Parking is in the 300 block of Ball Street, a little over a half-mile away. Take the trail south to Highway 26 and cross Ball Street to reach the Cottonwood Trail.

Alternatively, use the public parking lot at Dove Loop Road and Main Street. Exit the south end of the parking lot, turn left, then right on Main Street, and right on Northwest Highway. Cross Northwest Highway at Ball Street and go south until the end of the Downtown Grapevine Trail and the beginning of the Cottonbelt Trail for a total of 1.36 miles.

Path:

The southwestern trailhead of the Cottonbelt Trail in Grapevine is at the intersection of Highway 26/Grapevine Highway/Colleyville Road/Ira E. Woods Avenue and Brumley Road/Pool Road. It heads northeast along the Cotton Belt Railway and Highway 26, crossing S. Kimball Avenue, several large business entrances, going under Highway 114, crossing the 1500 block of Baylor Parkway, ending at the 900 block of Ball Street, where it intersects Highway 26.

Points of Interest:

Nearly all of the Cottonwood Trail in Grapevine is in full sun, so remember your hat/helmet and sunscreen. There are no parks along the Cottonwood Trail, but both ends of the trail intersect with other trails which lead to parks and access points.
