Saturday, September 1, 2012 marks the beginning of dove hunting season in Texas. The state law requires you to purchase a hunting license with a migratory game bird stamp and there's a hefty fine if you're caught without one. The license with migratory bird endorsement is required to hunt any migratory game bird including mourning dove.
Other Birds: A Federal Sandhill Crane permit is required to hunt sandhill crane and an Upland Game Bird Stamp endorsement is required to hunt turkey, quail, pheasant, lesser prairie chicken, or chachalacas.
