Fall Things to Do in DFW

Pumpkin Patches, Haunted Houses and More Don't Miss Activities

Whether you're lucky enough to live here or just planning a visit, there are some fantastic fall activities and events you won't want to miss. Whether you're looking for a date activity or something to do because the kids are "bored," there's something for everyone.

Pumpkin Patches

Angela Patterson

DFW has the best pumpkin patches. Some are even located on actual farms. Most have activities that your kids will love: corn mazes, hay rides, trains, food, petting zoos and they can even pick out their own pumpkin. They have one thing in common -- they make the perfect backdrop for photos.

Support a local farmer by purchasing your fall pumpkins at these patches.

Haunted Houses

Haunted Houses mean zombies, ghouls, ghosts, goblins and things that go bump in the night. Be warned: some are not recommend for children or anyone easily spooked or with health conditions. Check them out in advance. Some use strobe lights which may trigger seizures in some people. Be safe and check them out first; you'll have a hauntingly good time.

DFW's Cutting Edge haunted house made the Top 13 List by HauntWorld.com for 2011. Rated at Number 6, it's one haunted attraction that you won't want to miss. It might just scare the daylights out of you. Some haunted houses opened in September so having a ghostly good time.

Make the State Fair of Texas a tradition. It's food, it's football, it's fun for all ages. You'll go when pigs fly? You're in luck because there are pig races at the fair. For the small prices of admission, you can enjoy lots of free things to do like visiting the Children's Medical Center Petting Zoo, the Starlight Parade, Mother Goose Storytime, the Auto Show and free concerts. Don't miss KC & the Sunshine Band, Jack Ingram, and Crystal Bowersox from American Idol fame. The people watching element alone is a reason to visit the fair.
