We all know that Bread Winners Café and Bakery is a very popular place to go for brunch. Now you can get your favorite breakfast-for-dinner items as part of their new menu.
I made my first visit to the Uptown location and was invited to sample their new dinner menu. Let me just say that I had great difficulty in making my selections because they all sounded divine.
For starters I selected the Smoked Gouda Fondue with cherry tomato relish and Tuscan bread. It was highly recommended by my waitress and I now know why. It was so good that I swore I would purchase a few orders and serve it at my next dinner party (and tell everyone I made it myself). Perfect for sharing (although you won't want to) and only $8.
Other new appetizers included Firecracker Chicken (chicken stuffed in a jalapeno pepper and wrapped with bacon -- double yum) and one of my favorite southern comfort foods, Fried Green Tomatoes with remoulade sauce. They looked delish and I hope to return soon to sample them.
Breakfast for Dinner
I recently became a big fan of sriracha sauce after a certain TV doctor (Dr. Oz) mentioned the health benefits of the Thai-chili sauce. Healthy and tasty? I'm in.
Other Breakfast-for-Dinner items on the menu include an 8-oz. Prime Strip Steak & Eggs (Atkins diet fans will love this) for $17, and French Ham Benedict (croissant, asparagus, Hollandaise sauce, 2 eggs and brunch potatoes) for $13. I believe a return visit is in the works.
Although I had a difficult time choosing from the menus, the Chicken and Waffles were wonderful and I was very pleased with my selection. However, other great-sounding items on the dinner menu included Pan Seared Shrimp and Sharp Cheddar Grits, Turkey Sweet Potato Meatloaf, and the Chicken Fried Portobello Mushroom.
Just Desserts
The verdict? Of course it was delicious. Everything that comes from their bakery has to be from grandma's secret recipe box. They have all your favorites like brownies, cookies, pie, and cheesecake to trendy cake balls.
Someone said you can't have your cake and eat it too. I disagree. Go to Bread Winners and order a slice of cake, some cake balls, or a half-sheet cake that feeds 40. You can have your cake and you can eat it too. I promise.
