Guide Review - Fusion Cafe
The "fusion" in Fusion Cafe refers to the blend of Asian and American foods on the menu as well as the décor. Betta bowls and bonsai decorate the counter while most of the décor is typical American coffeehouse. The setup includes tables indoors and alfresco, and comfy chairs and a loveseat near a big-screen television. If your friends haven't shown up, check the bookcase for a good read and once they arrive, play one of several board games.
While the food was good and freshly made, it came out of the kitchen one plate at a time. The first person in my group finished eating before the fourth person received their food.
The spring rolls were cut open on the bias and arranged around a small bowl of sweet chile sauce. The chile sauce had just a bit of heat to it, but not too much. The warm chicken inside the delicate rice wrap contrasted nicely with the crisp, fresh lettuce. The grilled cheese sandwich tasted like the classic should with nicely melted cheese (a choice of cheddar or swiss) and toasted bread.
Coffee in all its forms is on the menu, but also canned soft drinks, bottled juices, and various teas. The fruit smoothies contain real fruit and are quite filling. Granitas, cream freezes, Italian sodas, and cocoa round out the drink menu.
Saturdays and most Fridays local musicians entertain the customers. A chalkboard on the sidewalk in front of the restaurant announces other events scheduled there. Fusion Cafe in downtown Plano is a place to hang out with friends and sip the many flavors of drinks they offer.
