Guide Review - Trinity Hall Irish Pub and Restaurant

Trinity Hall is a casual, seat-yourself sort of place, but the staff doesn't take their time getting to you. Within seconds of sitting down, I had a menu for the food and another for the drinks. I asked my server to recommend something to drink--a rather broad request for a place that serves so many types of beer (more than a hundred), wine (forty or so varieties of white, red, and sparkling), and whiskey (well over one hundred). I chose the Smithwick's, a smooth, somewhat sweet ale just right for an early lunch.

The Food

The food menu is varied and extensive, with options such as shepherd's pie, corned beef and cabbage, fish and chips, salmon filet, filet mignon, salads, and pastas. I tried the Irish stew and it arrived steaming in a big bowl with chunks of lamb, carrots, potatoes, and celery swimming in a delicious, thick broth and dark bread on the side. Perfect for a cool spring day, but it tasted so good that I know I'll be back for it in the summer.

The Dessert

The dessert list was too tempting. Cheesecake, fruit cobblers, crème brulee, and other sweets beckoned. The Irish cream bash pie was amazing! I highly recommend this pie made of a cream liqueur mousse on a chocolate cookie crust. The pie alone made the trip to Mockingbird Station well worth it.

Events

Trinity Hall has a patio to take advantage of the weather. A variety of events are hosted, including Tuesday night tastings, live music, magicians, poker night, pub quiz trivia, and televised soccer, rugby, and basketball.

Getting There

With the great menu of drinks, it might be best not to drive. Take the Red or Blue line on DART to Mockingbird Station. Driving, take I-75 and exit Mockingbird Lane. Go east on Mockingbird, then left at the Mockingbird Station sign.
