Let them eat cake! I don't think anything can replace the cupcake in terms of popularity. They're delicious. They're just the right size. They're affordable. Kids love them and they're perfect for birthday parties. I heard someone say that pie is the new cupcake. Absolutely no way.

1. Dimples Cupcake Factory

I'm going to put my neck on the line and say that Dimples' Wedding Cake Cupcake is the best in DFW. If I need a sugar fix, Dimples is just the place to go. My best friend introduced me to the Wedding Cake Cupcake one day and it blew my mind. It was that good. It's the perfect combination of moist cake topped with sweet frosting (but not too sweet). I sampled one recently and it literally melted in my mouth.
Dimples is located in Frisco Square (home of the synchronized holiday light show across from Pizza Hut Park). It's a couple of doors down from Mattito's Tex-Mex.
The base menu consists of my personal favorite, the Wedding Cake Cupcake, plus red velvet, and cookies and cream. Additional flavors change on a daily basis.

2. Frost It Cafe
I love their cupcakes (and everything else) at Frost It! This great bakery specializes in custom cakes, birthday cakes, cupcakes and more. You'll not only enjoy their cupcakes, but also their specialty bars, cookies and breakfast/lunch items. They even have a gluten-free menu.

3. Sprinkles
Some people think Sprinkles is the end-all, beat-all cupcake. If you're a love of all things Sprinkles, then you can either shop at their HP store or buy the mix and whip up a batch yourself. Can you decorate them to make them look worthy of the Beverly Hills location? The kit even comes with the trademark modern dot. How cute is that? 4. Sugar Queen Cupcakes
These delicacies are only $2.75 or buy 5, get 1 free. They even have a cupcake bouquet. Everyday flavors include:

And then there are rotating daily specials. Mmm. Best of all, I like their policy. At the end of the business day, leftover cupcakes are given to local women's shelters, police/fire departments and other special folks who deserve a sweet treat. How suh-weet is that?!
