Shopping in Dallas and the Metroplex

Dallas lacks nothing in the shopping department. Look here for the best, the biggest, and the trendiest places to shop.
Energy Star Tax Free Weekend in Texas
The state of Texas holds a sales tax holiday each year over the Memorial Day weekend. The sales tax exemption applies to Energy Star appliances purchased during the three days (Saturday, May through Monday, May 26 in 2008) of the tax-free weekend, on the labor required to install them, and on the delivery, shipping, or handling charges.

Avalon Salon and Spa
The Avalon Salon and Spa is situated in a quiet side street of the West Village. Upon entering Avalon, it seems to be an ordinary bustling–albeit very chic–hair salon, but walking through an unassuming door with the unassuming label "Spa", you enter a very different world.
Grapevine Mills Mall
Grapevine Mills Mall is a huge mall in Grapevine, just north of DFW airport. Organized activities for kids and a MallWalkers program are offered. A skatepark, mini-golf, and the Rainforest Cafe keep shoppers entertained.
Galleria Dallas
The Galleria Dallas is an upscale shopping mall located at the intersection of I-635 and Dallas North Tollway. Anchor stores include American Girl Boutique and Bistro, Banana Republic, Gap, Old Navy, Macy's, Nordstrom, Saks Fifth Avenue, and the Westin Galleria.
Weston Gardens
Weston Gardens is a seventeen-acre nursery and gardening center that specializes in native and very well-adapted plants. Owners Randy and Sue Weston select every plant carefully to be sure it will thrive in the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex.
Knitteries You Shouldn't Miss
Knitting boutiques are as unique as their owners. While most will carry a good selection of high-end yarns and patterns, the precise stock will vary according to the owners' likes as well as the likes and interests of their customers. The social aspect of knitting is another important consideration when choosing a store. All these knitteries have classes and other gatherings.
Cabela's
Cabela's bills itself as the world's foremost outfitter and it's easy to see why: it's a huge outdoors store just north of Fort Worth. With two stories of merchandise, food, exhibits, and activities, it's easy to while away a few hours here. It offers hunting and fishing gear (including boats and blinds) and everything a person needs for camping, RVing, and outdoor sports.
North Park Center
North Park has chic stores, entertainment, and a 1.4 acre garden in the center.
Ways to Celebrate Mother's Day
Mother's Day is a great day to show your mom how much she matters to you. Traditionally, taking Mom out to brunch or dinner, sending flowers, or getting her a gift from a small book of poetry to a spa package are the most popular ways to show you care.
